Lush, widescreen instrumental guitar music that feels like a cross-country drive. Cosmic country and folk fingerpicking for quiet moments and open roads.
William Tyler crafts instrumental landscapes that feel as vast and storied as the American West. While his foundation is in the intricate fingerstyle traditions of American Primitivism, he expands the frame with lush, full-band arrangements that touch on psych-rock, ambient, and country. It is music that breathes, moving with the unhurried pace of a river or a long stretch of highway.
What sets Tyler apart is his ability to tell complex, emotionally resonant stories without a single lyric. His guitar work is both technically dazzling and deeply melodic, often layering multiple tracks to create a shimmering, orchestral effect. There is a specific warmth to his production that feels like sun-baked wood and analog tape, grounding his 'cosmic' tendencies in something tangible and earthy.
Start with 'Goes West' for his most accessible, bright, and pastoral work. If you prefer something a bit more adventurous and sprawling, 'Impossible Truth' showcases his ability to blend solo acoustic mastery with darker, more experimental textures. It is the perfect companion for travel, deep focus, or simply watching the world go by.
