Webbie

High-octane Louisiana street rap defined by sharp nasal flows and heavy trunk-rattling bass. The essential soundtrack for high-energy nights and humid city drives.

Intro

Webbie brings the raw, unfiltered energy of Baton Rouge directly to the speakers. His sound is characterized by a distinctive, high-pitched nasal delivery that cuts through dense, bass-heavy production. It is music that feels physically heavy, designed for car audio systems and loud club environments where the rhythm is felt as much as it is heard.

What sets him apart is the chemistry between his staccato flow and the 'Trill' aesthetic of the mid-2000s South. While his peers often leaned into slower, more melodic trap, Webbie maintained a frantic, almost percussive vocal style. His tracks often feature repetitive, anthemic hooks that become earworms, grounded in the realities of street life and regional pride.

Start with 'Savage Life' to hear the blueprint of his sound. It captures the moment when Louisiana rap moved from a regional secret to a national force, blending aggressive street narratives with infectious, club-ready energy.

Webster Gradney Jr. (born September 6, 1985), known professionally as Webbie, is an American rapper. Gradney began his rap career in the early 2000s, first appearing on Lil Boosie's albums before releasing his debut album with him, Ghetto Stories. He has been signed to the independent Trill Entertainment label since 2003. In 2005 he came into the hip hop scene with "Gimme That" featuring Bun B. His songs "Bad Bitch" and "Swerve" were featured on Gangsta Musik, his 2003 group album with Lil Boosie, and in the 2005 movie Hustle & Flow. Webbie's second album, Savage Life 2, was released in early 2008 with the hit single "Independent" featuring Lil Boosie and Lil Phat.
