Veto

Mechanical precision meets indie rock grit. Tense, synth-driven anthems that feel like a high-speed chase through a digital city. Perfect for late-night focus.

Intro

Veto sounds like the intersection of a rock club and a server room. Their music is defined by a rigid, almost mechanical precision where every synth pulse and guitar stab feels calculated for maximum impact. It is cold but incredibly high-energy, utilizing the aesthetics of industrial and electronic music to bolster a traditional indie rock foundation. The result is a sound that feels both clinical and deeply urgent.

What truly sets them apart is the vocal delivery of Troels Abrahamsen, whose commanding baritone provides a human soul inside the machine. While many of their contemporaries in the Danish scene leaned into pop-rock, Veto pushed toward a darker, more abrasive electronic edge. Their production is often dense and compressed, creating a wall of sound that feels like it is vibrating at a high frequency.

Start with the album 'Crushing Digits' to hear them at their most iconic. It perfectly captures that mid-2000s tension where analog instruments were being swallowed by digital processing. It is the ideal soundtrack for moments that require a sharp, unsentimental focus or a burst of nocturnal energy.

VETO is a Danish indie rock band formed in 2004. They released their first EP, I Will Not Listen, in 2005 and their first album, There's A Beat In All Machines, in 2006, both released on the Danish hip hop label, Tabu Records/Playground Music Denmark. In February 2007, VETO won the award for Best New Act, as well as Best Danish Music Video at Danish Music Awards. Their song "You Are A Knife" was featured briefly in the American television program NCIS episode "Suspicion". VETO's second album is called Crushing Digits and was released 5 May 2008. The first single for the album, "Built to Fail", was released in March 2008 and received heavy airplay as "Ugens Uundgåelige" (Unavoidable of the week) on the public service radio channel DR P3. The band was awarded Danish Band of the Year at the Danish Music Awards 2009. The band's third studio album, entitled Everything is Amplified, was released on February 25, 2011.
