Vessels are a Leeds-based ensemble that represents one of the most successful stylistic pivots in modern UK independent music. Formed in 2005, they initially gained traction as a premier post-rock outfit, working with legendary producer John Congleton on their early records 'White Fields and Open Devices' and 'Helioscope.'

These albums established their credentials in the math-rock and post-rock scenes, characterized by intricate guitar work and explosive dynamics. However, the release of 'Dilate' in 2015 marked a radical shift toward live techno and IDM, a transition that was further solidified with 2017's 'The Great Distraction.' This evolution saw them move from the shadow of bands like Explosions in the Sky into a space shared by Jon Hopkins and Caribou. Their sound identity is now defined by the synthesis of complex polyrhythmic drumming and dense, cinematic synth arrangements. Critically, they are praised for maintaining the emotional weight of rock while mastering the hypnotic repetition of electronic dance music, making them a fixture at both rock festivals and electronic clubs.
