Various Production

Various Production is an enigmatic UK electronic duo, primarily consisting of members Adam and Ian, who emerged during the formative years of the dubstep movement. Unlike the club-focused sounds of their peers, they pioneered a highly idiosyncratic style that merged the rhythmic DNA of UK garage and grime with the melodic sensibilities of indie-folk and trip-hop.

Their 2006 debut, 'The World is Gone', remains a landmark of the 'post-dubstep' era, noted for its use of guest vocalists like Rachel Thomas Davies to create a sense of 'urban blues'. The group is also defined by their visual collaboration with illustrator David Bray, whose intricate, often dark artwork provides a physical identity for their otherwise anonymous presence. Throughout their career, they have maintained a prolific output of vinyl-only releases and white labels, emphasizing a crate-digger's aesthetic.
