Sodagreen (蘇打綠) is a foundational pillar of the Taiwanese indie-to-mainstream crossover movement. Formed in 2001 at National Chengchi University, the band's core identity is defined by the unique vocal timbre of lead singer Wu Qing-Feng and their sophisticated, often classically-influenced arrangements.
They broke significant ground in 2007 as the first independent band to headline the Taipei Arena, signaling a shift in the Mandopop landscape toward more artist-driven, idiosyncratic sounds. Their 'Vivaldi Project' (2009-2015) remains one of the most ambitious conceptual undertakings in Chinese-language music, spanning folk, rock, and symphonic styles across four distinct albums. Despite a high-profile legal battle over their name that led to a temporary rebrand as Oaeen (魚丁糸), the band's lineup has remained remarkably stable for over two decades.
