Intro

Imagine the brightest, loudest corner of a 2000s UK nightclub, where the air is thick with fog machine juice and the bass is a physical presence in your chest. Ultrabeat creates music that feels like a sugar rush for the soul, blending the melodic sensibilities of pop with the breakneck speed of happy hardcore and the atmospheric builds of trance. It is unapologetically big, bright, and built for maximum emotional impact on a crowded dancefloor.

What sets them apart is the 'Scouse House' DNA. There is a specific grit and urgency to their production, characterized by bouncy off-beat basslines and piano stabs that feel distinctly Northern English. While their peers might lean into cooler, more detached electronics, Ultrabeat leans into the heat, using soaring female vocals and massive, cascading synth leads that demand a sing-along.

Start with 'Pretty Green Eyes' to understand their chart-topping power, then move to 'Elysium (I Go Crazy)' for a masterclass in euphoric builds. If you want to hear their harder, more collaborative edge, 'Discolights' with Darren Styles shows how they bridged the gap between commercial radio and the underground hardcore scene.

Ultrabeat are a British electronic dance music group from Liverpool, England, formed in 2002. Originally consisting of vocalist and producer Mike "Re-Con" Di Scala and producers Ian Redman and Chris Henry, Ultrabeat emerged with their cover of the Force & Styles song "Pretty Green Eyes", which peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart 2003. With the addition of vocalist Rebecca Rudd in 2005, they released further singles, including top forty hits such as "Feelin' Fine", "Better than Life" and "Elysium (I Go Crazy)", followed by their début album Ultrabeat: The Album in 2007, which peaked at number eight on the UK Albums Chart In 2008, Ultrabeat released "Discolights" with collaborators Darren Styles and Danny P, which peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Chart. Their second album, released in 2009, The Weekend Has Landed, peaked at number 29 on the UK Albums Chart. Di Scala left the group in 2013 to focus on his new band CamelPhat with Dave Whelan, and Rudd took over as the lead vocalist.
