TZU

High-energy Australian hip-hop played by a full live band. Gritty grooves, sharp social commentary, and a restless, rock-infused spirit for loud rooms.

Intro

TZU sounds like a block party where the DJ was replaced by a tight, four-piece rock band that happens to have world-class MCs. It is hip-hop that breathes, eschewing the static nature of loops for the organic push-and-pull of live drums, distorted guitars, and warm analog synthesizers. The vocals carry a distinct Australian grit, delivering clever wordplay and social observations with an infectious, unpretentious energy.

What truly sets them apart is their refusal to stay in the hip-hop lane. You will hear the influence of 80s synth-pop, dusty blues, and aggressive indie rock woven into their rhythmic foundations. Their music feels communal and inclusive, a direct reflection of their legendary live shows where the line between the stage and the audience often disappears entirely.

Start with the album Computer Love for their most polished and expansive sound. It captures the perfect intersection of their rap roots and their electronic-rock ambitions, offering tracks that work just as well for deep listening as they do for a high-energy night out.

TZU (pronounced "Tee Zed Yoo") were an Australian hip hop group, formed in 1999 by Joelistics, Yeroc, Seed MC and Paso Bionic. Duzy What joined in 2005. The band used live instruments in their recordings and live performances, giving their shows a rock-infused feeling. Musically, TZU often blended hip-hop with other genres, such as rock, blues, jazz and electronica. TZU released four studio albums, Position Correction (2004), Smiling at Strangers (2005), Computer Love (2008, which peaked in the ARIA Charts top 30) and Millions of Moments (2012), before disbanding in 2013.
