Dense, hallucinatory black metal that feels like a slow-motion collapse. A murky collision of extreme metal icons creating a suffocating, psychedelic wall of sound.
Twilight sounds like the physical manifestation of a fever dream occurring in a concrete bunker. It is black metal stripped of its theatricality and replaced with a gritty, urban nihilism. The guitars are often submerged in a thick, washed-out production that prioritizes texture over clarity, creating a 'wall of sound' effect that is both overwhelming and strangely hypnotic. It is music that feels heavy not just in volume, but in its emotional and atmospheric weight.
What truly distinguishes the project is its supergroup DNA, which allows for an unusual cross-pollination of styles. You will hear the suffocating isolation of depressive black metal clashing with the rhythmic experimentation of post-metal and the jagged edges of industrial noise. Because the members come from disparate backgrounds like Leviathan, Isis, and Sonic Youth, the songs often veer into unexpected psychedelic territories, using electronics and unconventional song structures to expand the boundaries of the genre.
For those looking to dive in, the later work offers the most distinct experience. It is best approached when you want to disappear into a dense, challenging sonic environment. This is not casual listening; it is a deep immersion into the darker corners of experimental extreme music, perfect for moments of intense solitude or creative catharsis.
