Intro

TUBE is the undisputed soundtrack to the Japanese summer, a band that has spent decades perfecting the art of the seasonal anthem. Their sound is a vibrant cocktail of high-energy pop rock, shimmering surf-pop melodies, and a touch of bluesy grit. It feels like a permanent July afternoon: bright, optimistic, and relentlessly catchy. The production is polished and expansive, often featuring soaring vocal harmonies and driving rhythms that demand to be played at high volume with the windows down.

What truly sets TUBE apart is their unwavering commitment to their aesthetic. While other bands chase trends, TUBE has leaned into their 'Summer comes with TUBE' identity, creating a massive catalog of songs that evoke specific seaside memories. Michiya Haruhata's guitar work provides a sophisticated edge, blending technical proficiency with melodic hooks that elevate their songs beyond simple pop. There is a sense of communal joy in their music, a shared cultural experience of the season's arrival.

For the uninitiated, starting with a 'TUBEst' collection is essential to understand their impact. These compilations track their evolution from 80s synth-inflected pop to the more robust rock sound of the 90s and 2000s. It is music for anyone who wants to capture the feeling of freedom that only comes when the temperature rises and the ocean is in sight.

Tube (チューブ, chūbu) is a Japanese pop rock band formed in 1985. The members of the group are Nobuteru Maeda (前田亘輝), Michiya Haruhata (春畑道哉) Hideyuki Kakuno (角野秀行) and Ryoji Matsumoto (松本玲二). Tube members Maeda and Haruhata have composed for other artists under the Pipeline Project alias. Since the group released most of its songs in April to July, the catchphrase originated "Summer comes with Tube". Two years after the band debut in 1987, Haruhata and Maeda launched their solo careers. In 1994, Kakuno formed his own band Riding which lasted until 1999.
