Together

Together is a seminal French house collaboration between Thomas Bangalter (one half of Daft Punk) and Stéphane Quéré (DJ Falcon). Formed in the late 1990s, the duo became a cornerstone of the 'French Touch' movement, releasing music on Bangalter's influential Roulé label.

Their sound identity is defined by the aggressive use of high-pass filters and sidechain compression, a technique that creates a signature 'pumping' effect where the music ducks under the kick drum. Their discography is small but highly influential, consisting primarily of two massive club singles: 'Together' (2000) and 'So Much Love To Give' (2002). The latter is famous for looping a single line from a Sweet Sensation song for nearly ten minutes, creating a hypnotic, euphoric experience that redefined the limits of repetitive house music. The duo's influence extends into the mainstream; they famously produced the original version of 'Call On Me', which later became a global hit for Eric Prydz. Their DNA is also present in Daft Punk's final album, 'Random Access Memories', specifically the track 'Contact', which evolved from a Together live demo. Critically, they are regarded as the purists of the filter house subgenre, prioritizing vibe and sonic texture over traditional song structure.
