High-octane electronic trap that hits like a physical weight. Massive brass stabs, neon synths, and 808s designed to rattle windows and ignite dancefloors.
TNGHT is the collaborative project of Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke (Ross Birchard) and Canadian producer Lunice (Lunice Pierre II). Formed in 2011, the duo became the primary architects of the 'EDM Trap' movement, bridging the gap between the underground 'wonky' scene and mainstream hip-hop.
Their sound is characterized by hyper-compressed 808 percussion, massive synthesized brass fanfares, and a maximalist approach to arrangement that prioritizes high-impact drops and rhythmic tension. Their 2012 debut EP on Warp and LuckyMe is considered a landmark release, influencing the production styles of Kanye West (who famously sampled 'R6MS' for 'Blood on the Leaves') and countless others in the pop and rap spheres. After a long hiatus, they returned in 2019 with 'II', showcasing a more deconstructed and experimental take on their signature sound, incorporating global rhythms and more abstract textures while maintaining their core high-energy identity. They remain a critical bridge between the avant-garde electronic world and the commercial rap industry.
