Tito & Tarantula

Gritty, desert-soaked rock with a cinematic edge. Smoldering blues and fuzzed-out guitars that feel like a neon-lit dive bar on the edge of the border.

Intro

Tito & Tarantula sound like the exact moment the sun disappears behind a jagged desert horizon, leaving behind a heat-distorted landscape of neon and shadow. Their music is built on a foundation of heavy, mid-tempo blues rock, but it is seasoned with a distinct Chicano grit and a cinematic flair that feels both dangerous and inviting. It is the sound of a band that has seen too much, playing in a bar where the floor is sticky and the stakes are high.

What truly sets them apart is the 'desert noir' aesthetic. While many bands play blues rock, Tito Larriva and his rotating cast of collaborators infuse it with a vampiric, late-night swagger. The guitars are often fuzzed-out and reverb-drenched, creating a thick atmosphere that feels like it was pulled directly from a Robert Rodriguez film set. There is a specific tension in their rhythm section, a slow-burn intensity that never quite boils over, keeping the listener in a state of perpetual, cool anticipation.

To understand their appeal, start with the iconic 'After Dark'. It perfectly captures their ability to blend a seductive, slow-crawling groove with a sense of impending doom. From there, move into 'Angry Cockroaches' for a taste of their more aggressive, high-energy garage rock side. They are the ultimate soundtrack for anyone who prefers their rock and roll with a side of dust, leather, and dark storytelling.

Tito & Tarantula is an American chicano rock/blues rock band formed in Hollywood, California, in 1992 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tito Larriva. The band is best known for its songs "After Dark", "Back to the House That Love Built", "Strange Face of Love" and "Angry Cockroaches", as well as for its role in Robert Rodriguez's film From Dusk till Dawn as the band performing at the "Titty Twister" nightclub. "After Dark" was the track played during Salma Hayek's iconic exotic dance scene in that film, and later became the theme for From Dusk till Dawn: The Series.
