Tied & Tickled Trio is a pivotal German collective emerging from the Weilheim scene, sharing core members with The Notwist and Lali Puna. Founded in 1994 by Markus Acher and Christoph Brandner, the project evolved from a percussion-focused duo into a sophisticated nu-jazz ensemble.
Their sound identity is a unique intersection of Bavarian indie-rock sensibilities, classic jazz improvisation, and the glitchy, minimalist electronica associated with the Morr Music label. Throughout their career, they have moved from the abstract, rhythmic experiments of EA1 EA2 to the more melodic and cinematic arrangements found on Aelita. Critically, they are viewed as a bridge between the 'Weilheim Sound' and the broader European electronic-jazz movement of the late 90s and 2000s.
