Formed in Leeds in 1980, The Sisters of Mercy are a British rock band known for their influence on gothic rock, post-punk, and dark wave. Led by singer-songwriter Andrew Eldritch and their signature drum machine, Doktor Avalanche, the group produced three studio albums between 1985 and 1990. Following a long-standing recording hiatus, the band currently functions as a touring act, frequently performing unreleased material for live audiences.
