The Perceptionists are a Boston-based hip-hop collective consisting of Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, and initially DJ Fakts One.

Emerging from the fertile underground scene of the early 2000s, they became a cornerstone of the Definitive Jux label. Their sound identity is built on the contrast between Mr. Lif's high-concept, often cynical delivery and Akrobatik's powerful, classic boom-bap flow. Culturally, they represent the 'conscious' wing of the indie-rap explosion, bridging the gap between the abstract experimentation of El-P and the traditional lyricism of the East Coast. Their 2005 debut, 'Black Dialogue,' remains a critical touchstone for its scathing anti-war sentiment and technical prowess. Despite a long hiatus and the departure of Fakts One, their 2017 return with 'Resolution' proved their chemistry remained intact, maintaining a reputation for uncompromising, socially relevant art that eschews commercial trends for intellectual depth.
