Formed in Los Angeles in 2014, The Midnight is an American electronic music group blending synthwave and chillwave styles. The duo consists of singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and producer Tim McEwan. Their creative philosophy centers on the Japanese concept of mono no aware, which emphasizes a profound sense of nostalgic wistfulness and the realization that all things are impermanent. The project bridges their respective bases in Atlanta and Portland.
