High-energy punk with a pop-smart heart. Crunchy guitars and defiant vocals that capture the messy, beautiful urgency of growing up and speaking out.
The Linda Lindas sound like the best garage band you never had the guts to start. It is a rush of distorted power chords, driving drum fills, and vocals that oscillate between sweet pop harmonies and guttural punk shouts. Their music carries the DNA of classic 90s riot grrrl but polishes it with a modern, sun-drenched California sensibility that makes even their most political tracks feel like an invitation to a party.
What truly sets them apart is the lack of artifice. Because the band consists of family and lifelong friends, there is an audible chemistry in the way they trade lead vocals and backing shouts. They manage to be technically proficient without losing the raw, jagged edges that make punk feel dangerous and vital. It is music that feels like a collective exhale of frustration and joy.
Start with 'Growing Up' for the quintessential introduction to their melodic side, then dive into 'Racist, Sexist Boy' to hear their most visceral, hard-hitting energy. It is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who needs to feel a little more brave or a lot more loud.
The Linda Lindas is an American punk band from Los Angeles. The group comprises Bela Salazar, Eloise Wong, and sisters Lucia and Mila de la Garza. The band formed in 2018, and took their name from the film Linda Linda Linda, which in turn takes its name from the Blue Hearts song "Linda Linda". After being noticed by comedian Amy Poehler, they recorded the soundtrack for her film Moxie, which was released in 2021. Later that year, they released the single "Racist, Sexist Boy", which went viral. Epitaph Records signed them shortly afterwards. In 2022, they released their debut album, Growing Up, and received mostly positive reviews.
