Intro

The Firebirds are a time machine with a high-performance engine. Their sound is a meticulous yet explosive recreation of the mid-century rock and roll explosion, balancing the raw, caffeinated energy of rockabilly with the sophisticated, multi-layered vocal arrangements of classic doo-wop. It is music that feels physically incapable of sitting still, driven by the rhythmic thwack of an upright bass and the bright, twangy bite of hollow-body electric guitars.

What truly sets them apart is their vocal precision. While many revivalist acts lean into the grit, The Firebirds lean into the craft, delivering four-part harmonies that are as tight as a studio session from 1958. They capture the specific 'slapback' echo and warm analog saturation that defined the Sun Records era, making their modern recordings sound like long-lost master tapes found in a Memphis basement.

Start with 'Doo Wop Volume One' to hear their incredible vocal range and harmonic depth. If you are looking for more velocity, 'Dance All Night Long' showcases their ability to command a dance floor with relentless, swinging energy. It is the perfect soundtrack for anyone who believes the best music ever made happened between 1954 and 1959.

The Firebirds are a British rock band from Bristol, founded in 1981 by their former frontman John Plummer. The band now consists of four musicians; Jim Plummer, Dan Plummer, Richie Lorriman and Paul Willmott. The band also featured Jason Bryant and Paganydd Gould. The band has backed artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Campi, Charlie Gracie and Sleepy LaBeef. In 1992, they performed at the official opening of Disneyland Paris, where they were the only British band to perform. The Firebirds also starred in the Memorial concert at the Colston Hall in Bristol to mark 40 years of Eddie Cochran's death, in which Jim Plummer played the part of Cochran's last gig at the Bristol Hippodrome. Over recent years The Firebirds toured Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Spain, as well as a successful tour in the United States. They were the only British band to play the 2002 Rockabilly Festival, which marked the 50th anniversary of Sun Records and 25th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death. They have released eleven albums.
