The fin.

Shimmering dream pop that feels like a slow-motion sunset over the Pacific. Hazy synths and breathy vocals create a liquid, late-night atmosphere for quiet reflection.

Intro

The fin. crafts a sound that feels like it was recorded inside a warm, neon-lit cloud. It is music that prioritizes sensation over structure, where reverb-soaked guitars and plush synthesizers wash over the listener in gentle, rhythmic waves. Yuto Uchino’s vocals are a central element, delivered in a breathy, androgynous falsetto that often feels more like an additional instrument than a narrative voice, adding to the overall sense of weightless suspension.

What sets them apart is their ability to blend the melancholic haze of 90s British shoegaze with the rhythmic precision of modern Japanese city pop and chillwave. While many dream pop acts can feel static, The fin. incorporates subtle funk and soul influences in their basslines, giving the music a mellow, groovy pulse that prevents it from becoming purely ambient. It is a sophisticated, cosmopolitan take on indie-pop that feels both intimate and expansive.

Start with the album 'Days With Uncertainty' to hear their foundational dream pop sound at its most evocative. For a more polished, groove-oriented experience, 'There' showcases their growth into soul-inflected textures. It is the perfect companion for moments of transition, whether you are traveling through an urban landscape or simply winding down after a long day.

The fin. is a 2-piece indie rock band from Kobe, Japan, currently consisting of lead vocalist Yuto Uchino and bassist/former drummer Kaoru Nakazawa. Uchino and Nakazawa started the band in 2012 with guitarist Ryosuke Odagaki and original bassist Takayasu Taguchi, and released their first song "Faded Light" on SoundCloud in November of the same year. The band's style has been described as a blend of synth-pop and shoegaze from the 80's-90's with nowadays American indie-pop and chillwave.
