Intro

The Farm captures that specific, golden moment in British music where indie rock and dance culture finally shook hands and decided to have a party. Their sound is defined by a warm, inclusive energy that feels like a collective exhale. It is music built for big spaces and bigger crowds, anchored by the 'baggy' rhythmic swing of the early 90s and topped with melodies that feel instantly familiar, like a song you have known your whole life.

What truly sets them apart is their ability to blend social consciousness with pure, unadulterated pop joy. While many of their contemporaries leaned into psychedelia or cynicism, The Farm remained rooted in a sense of community and working-class solidarity. Their production often features lush arrangements, including brass and gospel-inflected backing vocals, which give their tracks a cinematic, celebratory quality that transcends the typical four-piece band setup.

Start with 'All Together Now' to understand their cultural weight; it is the ultimate anthem of unity. From there, dive into the 'Spartacus' album to hear the full breadth of their Madchester-adjacent sound, where jangling guitars meet club-ready beats in a way that defined an entire generation of UK guitar music.

The Farm are an English band from Liverpool. Their first album, Spartacus, reached the top position on the UK Albums Chart when it was released in March 1991; Spartacus 30 was released in 2021 to commemorate the anniversary. Spartacus includes two songs which had been top 10 singles the year before. In 2012, they toured with their Spartacus Live shows and formed part of the Justice Tonight Band, supporting the Stone Roses at Heaton Park, Phoenix Park, Lyon and Milan. They formed part of The Justice Collective which had the 2012 Christmas number one with their recording of "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother".
