Termanology

Hard-hitting boom-bap with razor-sharp internal rhymes and soul-sampled grit. The sound of a cold night in Massachusetts, built for the lyrical purist.

Intro

Termanology sounds like the bridge between the golden era of the 90s and the modern underground resurgence. His music is defined by heavy, snapping drums and a relentless flow that prioritizes technical proficiency and complex rhyme schemes. There is a palpable weight to the production, often featuring dusty soul loops and aggressive scratches that make every track feel like a lost classic from a basement studio.

What sets him apart is his unwavering commitment to the craft of 'the bar.' While many of his contemporaries leaned into melody or minimalism, Term doubled down on multi-syllabic rhyming and street-level storytelling. His collaboration with legendary producers like DJ Premier gives his work an authoritative, timeless quality that feels both nostalgic and vital.

Start with 'Politics as Usual' to hear him at his commercial and creative peak. It is a masterclass in how to modernize the boom-bap aesthetic without losing its soul, featuring some of the best production of the late 2000s and showcasing his ability to hold his own alongside rap royalty.
