Swallow

Swallow is the solo moniker of Lee Ki Yong, the primary songwriter and visionary behind the influential South Korean indie rock band Huckleberry Finn. Established in 2003, the project was conceived as a vehicle for more personal, private, and minimalist explorations that didn't fit the broader rock canvas of his main band.

Swallow's debut, 'Sun Insane' (2004), was a landmark release in the Korean independent scene, earning high critical praise for its stark portrayal of alienation and depression. Musically, the project aligns with the aesthetics of slowcore and minimalist indie folk, drawing comparisons to artists like Low, Red House Painters, or early Cat Power. The sound identity is defined by hushed, breathy vocals, sparse instrumentation, and a focus on textural atmosphere over melodic complexity. Throughout his career, Lee Ki Yong has been celebrated for his lyrical depth and his ability to translate complex emotional states into skeletal musical structures.
