Stone Fury was a short-lived but highly influential hard rock duo consisting of German vocalist Lenny Wolf and American guitarist Bruce Gowdy. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, the band released two studio albums on MCA Records that are now considered cult classics of the AOR and melodic hard rock genres.
Their sound is defined by a heavy Zeppelin influence, particularly in Wolf's vocal delivery, which would later become a hallmark of his more commercially successful project, Kingdom Come. Gowdy's contribution provided a sophisticated, melodic counterpoint that leaned into the emerging West Coast AOR sound. Despite critical acclaim for their debut 'Burns Like A Star' (1984), the band struggled to find a massive audience, partly due to a shift toward a more keyboard-heavy, pop-oriented sound on their sophomore effort 'Let Them Talk' (1986). The duo split shortly after, with Wolf finding stardom in Kingdom Come and Gowdy becoming a mainstay of the melodic rock scene with Unruly Child. They remain a 'musician's band,' cited for their high production standards and Wolf's elite vocal performance.
