Crystalline vocal harmonies meet geometric synth-pop. A playful, slightly surreal blend of robotic precision and organic warmth for late-night city wandering.
Stealing Sheep sound like a digital forest coming to life. Their music is built on a foundation of interlocking three-part harmonies that feel both ancient and futuristic, floating over rhythms that alternate between motorik precision and tribal urgency. It is pop music that has been refracted through a prism, breaking apart into shimmering synths and unexpected melodic turns.
What truly sets them apart is their 'elastic' approach to genre. They manage to bridge the gap between the avant-garde experimentation of The Knife and the infectious hooks of classic girl groups. There is a visual quality to their sound; every track feels meticulously designed, like a piece of kinetic art where every moving part serves a specific, colorful purpose.
Start with 'Not Real' to hear their mastery of the hypnotic groove, then move to 'Big Wows' for a more aggressive, neon-soaked take on modern electropop. If you prefer something more pastoral and eerie, their debut 'Into the Diamond Sun' offers a folk-tinged entry point into their singular world.
Stealing Sheep are a pop band from Liverpool, England, who formed in 2010. The three members are Rebecca Hawley (vocals and keys), Emily Lansley (vocals, guitar, bass guitar) and Luciana Mercer (vocals and drum kit). The debut studio album Into the Diamond Sun was released in 2012 by Heavenly Recordings. The band's second album, Not Real, was released on 13 April 2015 and their third, Big Wows, followed on 19 April 2019. In November 2021 Stealing Sheep supported Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark on their Architecture & More Tour around the UK.
