Starkill

Starkill is a prominent American melodic death metal band that emerged from the Chicago suburbs in 2012. Originally performing under the names Ballistika and Massakren, the core duo of Parker Jameson and Spencer Weidner transitioned to the Starkill moniker upon signing with Century Media.

Their sound identity is a highly technical hybrid of Finnish-style melodic death metal (reminiscent of Children of Bodom) and the symphonic bombast of Nightwish. Over their career arc, they have moved from a darker, more blackened death metal foundation on 'Fires of Life' toward a more polished, accessible, and vocally diverse sound, particularly after the permanent addition of Sarah Lynn Collier. This evolution has seen them incorporate more clean singing and power metal tropes while maintaining the high-speed percussion and intricate lead guitar work that defined their debut. Critically, they are noted for their high production values and the ability to bridge the gap between extreme metal subgenres and more melodic, anthem-driven rock.
