Soulfallen

Soulfallen is a Finnish melodic death metal band formed in 2003 in Jyväskylä. Their sound identity is defined by a hybrid of melodic death metal, symphonic black metal, and doom influences, often referred to by the band and critics as 'Dark Metal.'

They are characterized by a 'black-blooded' aesthetic that emphasizes Finnish melancholy, cinematic orchestrations, and a balance between aggressive percussion and melodic guitar work. Their career arc saw them rise through the Finnish underground with highly praised demos like 'Death of the Tyrant' before signing with Off Records. Their debut, 'World Expiration,' and follow-up, 'Grave New World,' established them as a key part of the mid-2000s Finnish metal scene alongside peers like Insomnium and Before the Dawn. Critically, they are noted for their high production values and ability to evoke specific, cold atmospheres without sacrificing the heavy, rhythmic drive of death metal. After a period of relative silence following 2012's 'The Promise of Hell,' their 2025 return with 'Thousandfold' signals a continuation of their epic, somber legacy.
