Intro

Sopa de Cabra sounds like the definitive soundtrack to a Mediterranean summer that never quite ends. Their music is built on a foundation of classic rock and roll, featuring dual guitar textures that range from bluesy, distorted riffs to bright, acoustic strumming. Gerard Quintana's vocals provide the emotional anchor, possessing a distinctive raspy quality that feels both lived-in and urgently passionate, capable of shifting from intimate storytelling to stadium-sized hooks.

What truly sets them apart is their ability to capture a sense of collective identity through anthemic songwriting. While they emerged from the Rock Catala movement, their sound is less about a specific scene and more about a universal feeling of movement and memory. There is a specific warmth to their production, especially in their legendary live recordings, where the interaction between the band and the audience becomes a primary instrument in itself.

To understand their impact, start with the live album 'Ben Endins'. It captures the band at their peak, showcasing the raw energy of hits like 'L'Emporda'. From there, explore 'Plou i fa sol' to hear their more refined, melodic pop-rock sensibilities. It is music for the journey, not just the destination.

Sopa de Cabra ('Goat Soup') is a musical group from Girona, Catalonia, Spain, active from 1986 to 2002 and since 2015. They are considered to be one of the leading representatives of the rock català movement, though the band prefer not to be placed in the same category as other Catalan-language groups, some of whom had very different musical styles, simply on the basis of singing in Catalan. Sopa de Cabra's classic songs include L'Empordà, Camins ("Paths") and El Far del Sud ("The Southern Lighthouse"). In September 2011, the band reunited temporarily to mark the 25th anniversary of their formation and the tenth of their final performances with a tour of seven concerts. They reformed in 2015 and have since released two albums.
