Slowtide is the creative vehicle for German multi-instrumentalist Kevin Werdelmann, based in Bochum. His career arc represents a unique synthesis of early 80s electronic influences (Vince Clarke, Jean-Michel Jarre) and the melodic sensibilities of late 90s British indie (The Verve, Travis).
Starting with the Amiga-produced electronic concept album 'London' in 1997, Werdelmann evolved into a sophisticated songwriter who handles nearly all production duties himself. His work is characterized by high-level 'bedroom' craftsmanship, particularly on the 2012 album 'Solaria,' which utilized brass and string arrangements to achieve a chamber-pop aesthetic. Critically, he is positioned as a bridge between the DIY ethos of indie-pop and the maximalist tradition of Brian Wilson-style orchestration.
