Slowgold

Slowgold is the primary musical vehicle for Gothenburg-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Amanda Werne. Since debuting in the early 2010s, the project has evolved from a solo folk endeavor into a tight-knit trio featuring bassist Johannes Mattsson and drummer Erik Berntsson.

Their sound identity is defined by a 'timeless' quality, blending the intimacy of 60s/70s folk-rock with the atmospheric textures of modern dream pop. Werne’s use of the harmonica and electric guitar provides a rootsy, Americana-adjacent foundation, while her vocal delivery and the band's use of space align them with the 'Nordic Noir' aesthetic. Critically, Slowgold is celebrated for resisting the high-tempo demands of the modern music industry, instead favoring a 'slow living' philosophy that has earned them a dedicated following in the Swedish indie scene and multiple Swedish Grammy (Grammis) nominations. They occupy a unique cultural space between the mainstream pop of Håkan Hellström and the experimental psych-rock of the Gothenburg underground, serving as a bridge between traditional songwriting and atmospheric exploration.
