Shameboy

High-octane Belgian electro that hits with the force of a rock band. Metallic synths and heavy 808 beats designed for peak-hour festival tents and late-night drives.

Intro

Shameboy creates a sound that is fundamentally industrial yet surprisingly soulful. It is the sound of the Belgian club scene at its most muscular, where the precision of Kraftwerk meets the rowdy, big-beat energy of the Chemical Brothers. The tracks are built on a foundation of thick, overdriven basslines and crisp drum machine patterns that demand physical movement. It feels like a high-speed chase through a futuristic city, polished and sleek but with enough grit to keep it from feeling sterile.

What truly sets Shameboy apart is the 'hard on the outside, soft on the inside' philosophy. While the initial impact is aggressive and percussive, Luuk Cox weaves in melodic hooks and funk-inspired grooves that provide a human heart to the machine. There is a specific tension between the rigid electronic structures and the fluid, almost rock-like energy of the arrangements, making it as appealing to fans of alternative guitar music as it is to techno purists.

Start with the anthem 'Rechoque' to understand their impact on the dancefloor. From there, dive into the album 'Heartcore' to hear how they balance club intensity with sophisticated production. It is the perfect soundtrack for when you need a surge of adrenaline or a beat that cuts through the noise of a busy night.

Shameboy is the one-man project of Luuk Cox (born 3 August 1972 in Kerkrade, Limburg), a Belgian, Dutch-born multi-instrumentalist music producer, musician and songwriter. His writing and production credits include Stromae, Loic Nottet, Racoon, Emma Bale, Arsenal, Cattle & Cane, Innerspace Orchestra, Girls in Hawaii, Molly, Maaike Ouboter, Eva De Roovere, Tim Vanhamel, Mickey, Roscoe, Ostyn, Team William, Marco Z and Compact Disk Dummies amongst many others. Luuk Cox remixed tracks for artists like WILL.I.AM, Nicki Minaj and Booka Shade. After moving to Belgium, Luuk Cox became drummer of Buscemi, a DJ producer and live performance act of electronic dance music with influences of Latino, House, Jazz, Afrobeat, Brazilian and Drum and Bass. In 2004, Luuk Cox and Belgian DJ Jimmy Dewit created Shameboy, an eclectic electronic music project inspired by Kraftwerk and Chemical Brothers. As a duo, they recorded 3 albums. In 2010, Dewit left Shameboy and was replaced during live shows by Dominik Friede.
