High-velocity South London post-punk that balances manic, jagged energy with moments of vulnerable introspection. Aggressive, smart, and deeply restless.
shame sounds like the precise moment a conversation turns into a confrontation. Their music is built on a foundation of interlocking, jagged guitars and a rhythm section that feels like it's constantly trying to outrun itself. It is sweaty, claustrophobic, and intensely British, capturing the specific friction of living in a crowded city where everyone is just a little bit too close to one another.
What sets them apart is the evolution from the sneering, bratty energy of their debut to the more complex, psychologically dense textures of their later work. Charlie Steen's vocals oscillate between a conversational drawl and a desperate, throat-shredding shout, often within the same verse. They use silence and sudden bursts of noise as emotional punctuation, making the listener feel every bit of the anxiety and camaraderie they describe.
Start with 'Songs of Praise' if you want the raw, unfiltered energy of the South London scene, or dive into 'Drunk Tank Pink' for a more experimental, rhythmically adventurous experience. They are the perfect band for when you need to turn your internal restlessness into something loud and tangible.
