SENTRIES

SENTRIES is the solo recording project of Kim Elliot, based in Lethbridge, Alberta. Emerging in the early 2020s, the project has rapidly evolved from lo-fi noise experiments into a formidable force in the international art-punk and noise rock scenes.

The sound identity is defined by high-gain dissonance, unconventional song structures, and a vocal delivery that ranges from detached spoken word to visceral screaming. Elliot's work is notable for its prolific nature, frequently releasing demos and live recordings that document a restless creative process. The 2024 album 'Snow as a Metaphor for Death' served as a breakout moment, establishing a thematic preoccupation with winter, isolation, and mortality. This was followed by 2025's 'Gem of the West,' which saw the project gain significant traction on music discovery platforms and critical outlets like Stereogum. Culturally, SENTRIES occupies a space between the DIY basement scene and the high-concept world of avant-garde rock, drawing comparisons to the aggressive theatricality of Model/Actriz and the rhythmic complexity of the UK's burgeoning 'windmill' scene, yet remaining distinct through its stark, regional Canadian perspective.
