Sanjosex

Sanjosex is the project of Carles Sanjosé, a pivotal figure in the 21st-century Catalan 'Nova Cançó' revival. Emerging from La Bisbal d'Empordà, Sanjosé brought a unique perspective to the indie scene, combining his training as an architect with a gift for narrative songwriting.

His debut 'Viva!' (2005) established him as a critical favorite, but it was 'Temps i rellotge' (2007) and 'Al marge d'un camí' (2010) that defined his signature sound: a blend of organic folk-rock, Mediterranean textures, and introspective lyrics. His work is frequently associated with the Bankrobber label and producer Ricky Falkner, contributing to a specific 'Catalan indie' aesthetic characterized by high production values and rootsy influences. Sanjosex has demonstrated significant range, from the flamenco-tinged collaborations with guitarist Chicuelo to the more experimental 'Festival' (2014). His cultural footprint in Catalonia is bolstered by his music's frequent use in television dramas like 'Porca Misèria', making his voice a familiar presence in the region's contemporary cultural landscape.
