RZO (Rapaziada da Zona Oeste) is a foundational pillar of Brazilian Rap Nacional, originating from the Pirituba district of São Paulo in the late 1980s. They are widely credited with expanding the sonic palette of Brazilian hip-hop beyond the minimalist aggression of their contemporaries, introducing lush arrangements and female vocals (most notably through Negra Li) into a traditionally masculine space.
