Elegant, meticulously crafted art-pop that balances baroque strings with modern R&B rhythms. Warm, intimate music for quiet reflection and city strolls.
Rostam creates music that feels like a perfectly curated apartment: every sound has a place, and every texture is intentional. It is a sophisticated blend of high-art classicism and modern pop sensibility, where a harpsichord might sit comfortably next to a heavy 808 beat. The atmosphere is consistently warm and inviting, yet there is a sharp, intellectual edge to the arrangements that keeps the listener engaged.
What truly sets him apart is his 'producer's ear' applied to the singer-songwriter format. He uses his voice as just one more layer in a dense, beautiful tapestry of sound. You will hear echoes of his work with Vampire Weekend, but here the sound is more intimate and personal, trading collegiate energy for a more mature, jazz-inflected exploration of change and identity.
Start with the album 'Half-Light' to hear his baroque-pop foundations at their most lush, then move to 'Changephobia' for a more experimental, saxophone-heavy journey. It is the ideal soundtrack for moments of transition, whether you are moving through a city or through a new stage of life.
