Rebeka is a pivotal Polish electronic duo consisting of Iwona Skwarek and Bartosz Szczesny. Originally a solo project for Skwarek using a Casio keyboard, the addition of Szczesny in 2010 transformed the project into a sophisticated electropop outfit.
Their sound identity is defined by a 'raw vs. polished' philosophy, where complex studio arrangements are reimagined as aggressive, stripped-back live performances. Their debut LP, Hellada (2013), was a critical landmark in Poland, winning Album of the Year and establishing them as leaders of the Eastern European electronic scene. Culturally, they represent a bridge between the DIY indie-electronic movement of the late 2000s and the more professionalized, international-facing Polish scene of the 2010s. Influenced by both 80s new wave and contemporary techno, their work is characterized by analog warmth, dense layering, and Skwarek's versatile vocal range which shifts from breathy whispers to powerful belts. They are frequently associated with the Brennnessel label and have gained international traction through releases on Discotexas.
