Rawtekk is a German electronic duo composed of Stefan and Christine Westphal, based in Hamburg. Since their formation in 2001, they have evolved from a technical drum and bass project into a multidisciplinary sonic powerhouse. Stefan's background is deeply rooted in the 1990s techno movement and high-end sound engineering, while Christine provides the melodic and lyrical counterpoint that elevates their work into 'art-pop' territory. Their sound identity is defined by 'surgical' production - a result of their professional work developing sample libraries for Steinberg.
Critically, they are positioned as bridge-builders between the aggressive, technical world of neurofunk (sharing DNA with artists like Phace and Neosignal) and the more cerebral, experimental realms of IDM. Their signing to Med School (a Hospital Records sub-label) in 2013 marked a significant shift toward more cinematic and vocal-heavy compositions.
