Quintron

Swampy garage-soul meets mad-scientist electronics. A chaotic, analog dance party fueled by custom-built light-activated synths and a Hammond organ shaped like a car.

Intro

Quintron sounds like a psychedelic carnival that took root in a New Orleans basement and never left. It is a thick, humid blend of greasy garage rock, vintage R&B, and primitive electronic experimentation. The music is anchored by the heavy, rhythmic chug of his custom-built inventions, creating a sound that is both mechanically rigid and wildly human. It feels like a high-energy dance party occurring in a workshop filled with vacuum tubes and discarded car parts.

What makes Quintron truly distinctive is his 'Swamp-Tech' aesthetic. He does not use standard synthesizers; he performs with the Drum Buddy, a rotating light-activated analog synth of his own design. This gives the percussion a hypnotic, oscillating quality that you cannot find in digital software. Coupled with his wife Miss Pussycat's maraca-shaking and surreal backing vocals, the music occupies a space between performance art and a gritty neighborhood block party.

Start with 'Are You Ready for an Organ Solo?' to hear the quintessential Quintron sound at its most accessible and infectious. It captures the raw energy of his one-man-band setup and serves as the perfect introduction to his world of custom electronics and soul-inflected garage punk. If you want something more recent and polished, 'Goblin Alert' showcases his evolution without losing the signature grit.

Quintron (real name Robert Rolston; born c. 1967 in Germany) is an American musician and one-man-band. He is a nightclub organist and inventor, who has patented a number of his own inventions and often performs at his own private club, the Spellcaster Lodge in New Orleans. He frequently performs with his wife, musician and puppeteer Panacea Pussycat (also known as Miss Pussycat), co-founder of the 9th Ward's defunct Pussycat Caverns.
