Sun-drenched acoustic grooves that bridge the gap between surf rock and soulful funk. Perfect for beach bonfires and slow-moving summer afternoons.
Quincy Mumford crafts a sound that feels like a permanent summer vacation. It is built on a foundation of percussive acoustic guitar work and a rhythm section that understands the 'pocket' of classic soul and reggae. The music carries a salt-air freshness, blending the breezy optimism of surf culture with the sophisticated harmonic choices of modern R&B. It is music that refuses to rush, inviting the listener to slow down to a coastal pace.
What truly distinguishes Mumford is his ability to ground these laid-back vibes in specific, observational storytelling. He writes about his New Jersey hometown with the same reverence others reserve for grand myths, turning local characters and beach-town landmarks into universal symbols of community and peace. His vocal delivery is effortless, occasionally leaning into rhythmic, hip-hop influenced phrasing that keeps the folk-rock foundations feeling contemporary and agile.
Start with 'South Edgemere' to hear the definitive blend of his acoustic roots and full-band funk ambitions. It captures that specific moment where a singer-songwriter finds a groove deep enough to move a festival crowd without losing the intimacy of a solo performance.
Quincy Mumford (born December 18, 1991) is an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. The film was released in conjunction with the live album and DVD titled Live at the Saint, which was voted by WBJB 90.5 The Night as the No. 7 Top Album released in 2012.
