Intro

Posthuman delivers a masterclass in the enduring power of analog hardware. Their sound is defined by the unmistakable squelch of the Roland TB-303 and the punchy, rhythmic complexity of 808 and 909 drum machines. It is music that feels deeply rooted in the history of UK rave culture, yet it avoids being a mere museum piece by injecting a modern sense of urgency and sophisticated IDM-influenced programming.

What truly sets them apart is their ability to balance the raw, aggressive energy of acid house with moments of surprising melodic depth and atmospheric texture. Whether they are leaning into high-tempo club weapons or more cerebral, downtempo explorations, there is a consistent warmth and grit to their production that feels human and tactile. It is the sound of machines being pushed to their emotional limits in a dark, sweat-soaked room.

Newcomers should dive into 'Back to Acid' or 'Decompression' to experience their signature blend of hypnotic repetition and evolving textures. These records serve as a bridge between the cerebral listening of the IDM era and the physical, floor-focused energy of the modern acid revival, making them essential for anyone who loves the intersection of technology and soul.

Posthuman are an electronic music duo consisting of cousins Richard Bevan and Joshu Doherty. They run the I Love Acid record label and clubnight. Establishing themselves in the early 2000s as part of the London IDM scene, through the following years the pair experimented with various styles and genres, including electronica, ambient music, post-rock, and Detroit techno. Since 2010 their sound is mostly categorised as Acid house and the pair are regarded amongst the foremost champions of the UK Acid House scene.
