Place Vendome is a studio-based melodic rock project formed in 2004 by Frontiers Records president Serafino Perugino. The project is a 'supergroup' of sorts, centered around the legendary vocals of Michael Kiske (Helloween) and the production/songwriting expertise of Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69).
Musically, it serves as a bridge between the European power metal scene and the classic AOR traditions of the late 70s and 80s. The sound identity is defined by high-register, operatic vocals, lush synthesizer textures, and highly melodic guitar work that emphasizes hooks over aggression. Throughout their four-album arc, the project has maintained a remarkably consistent aesthetic, largely due to the stable core of musicians from Pink Cream 69 and Vanden Plas. Critically, Place Vendome is celebrated for rehabilitating Kiske's career in the rock world after his temporary departure from the metal scene, proving that his voice was perfectly suited for the sophisticated arrangements of melodic rock.
