Intro

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs sound like a tectonic plate shifting under a Newcastle dive bar. It is massive, physical music that prioritizes the weight of the riff and the hypnotic power of repetition. While they are often filed under doom or stoner metal, there is a frantic, punk-adjacent energy in the vocals and a Krautrock-inspired persistence in the rhythm section that keeps the songs from ever feeling sluggish.

What truly sets them apart is the sheer theatricality of their intensity. Matthew Baty’s vocals veer from guttural roars to desperate, high-wire shouts, sounding like a man exorcising demons in real-time. The guitars are thick and saturated, creating a wall of sound that feels both ancient and immediate, blending the cosmic sprawl of Hawkwind with the punishing sludge of Black Sabbath.

Start with 'Viscerals' for a concentrated dose of their modern, punchier songwriting. If you want to experience the full, sprawling weight of their earlier psychedelic explorations, 'Feed the Rats' offers long-form tracks that reward a patient, high-volume immersion.

Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, usually shortened to Pigs x7, are a British stoner metal band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2012. Their debut album, Feed the Rats, was released on UK label Rocket Recordings in 2017. The Guardian listed the band as one of their "top 40 newcomers" for 2018, and in 2018 their second album King of Cowards was released, described by The Quietus as an "epic and sprawling record". They practice and record in guitarist Sam Grant's Studio "Blank Studios". In April 2020, the band released their third album, Viscerals. In May 2020, The Guardian listed the album as one of the twenty best albums released so far that year in their mid-year list. An LP of live tracks, Off Cuts, was released in November 2020 exclusively through Rough Trade's record shops. They announced their fifth studio album Death Hilarious on 20 January 2025, which released 4 April. Sam Grant's father was BBC broadcaster Peter Grant (former broadcaster).
