Paperboys

Paperboys are a seminal Norwegian hip-hop duo formed in 1998, consisting of rapper Øyvind 'Vinni' Sauvik and DJ/producer Ole Aleksander 'Pope Dawg' Halstensgård. They were instrumental in commercializing Norwegian rap, moving it away from the underground and into the mainstream through a series of high-profile collaborations with acts like Madcon.

Their sound identity is characterized by 'organic hip-hop,' frequently utilizing acoustic instrumentation, particularly guitars, which distinguishes them from the more electronic or sample-heavy production of their contemporaries like Klovner i Kamp. Throughout the 2000s, they dominated the Norwegian charts, winning Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammys) in 2002 and 2005. Their career arc saw a significant evolution from traditional boom bap roots to a more melodic, folk-influenced pop-rap style, culminating in the massive success of the single 'Lonesome Traveller.'
