Papa Roach emerged from Vacaville, California, as a pivotal force in the late-90s nu-metal movement. Their major-label debut, 'Infest' (2000), became a multi-platinum landmark, fueled by the massive success of 'Last Resort,' which defined the era's fusion of rap and metal.
While many of their contemporaries faded with the nu-metal trend, Papa Roach successfully transitioned into a durable hard rock act. This evolution was marked by 2004's 'Getting Away with Murder,' where frontman Jacoby Shaddix largely abandoned rapping in favor of melodic singing and anthemic choruses. Their career arc is characterized by a restless curiosity, later incorporating elements of glam metal, electronic music, and even djent-inspired rhythms. Critically, they are recognized for their longevity and Shaddix's high-energy stage presence.
