Intro

The Outlawz, originally known as Dramacydal and the Outlaw Immortalz, are a seminal hip-hop collective founded by Tupac Shakur. Their identity is inextricably linked to the 'Makaveli' era of Shakur's career, serving as his primary musical lieutenants during the height of the East Coast-West Coast rivalry.

I. Mean, Young Noble, and the late Yaki Kadafi, brought a diverse range of flows that complemented Shakur's intensity with a more grounded, street-level perspective. Sonically, they are pillars of the Death Row Records sound, utilizing high-gloss G-funk production, live bass, and cinematic synth arrangements. Following the death of Shakur and Kadafi, the group transitioned into a prolific independent career, maintaining a dedicated global following. They are critically regarded as the definitive 'ride-or-die' rap group, influencing the 'squad' dynamics of later collectives. Their work serves as a bridge between the political consciousness of the early 90s and the commercial gangsta rap dominance of the late 90s.
