Wild, kaleidoscopic Brazilian psychedelia that pairs fuzzed-out guitars with playful avant-garde experiments. Tropicalia at its most irreverent and inventive.
Formed in São Paulo in 1966, Os Mutantes emerged as a pivotal force in the Brazilian Tropicália movement. The band blended traditional música popular brasileira with psychedelic pop, utilizing distortion and experimental studio techniques. Throughout their initial run, the group released nine albums under the Polydor label. Featuring members like Rita Lee, Arnaldo Baptista, and Sérgio Dias, the ensemble evolved from rock pioneers into progressive music before disbanding in 1978.
