Orange Caramel, a sub-unit of the Pledis Entertainment group After School, redefined the 'quirky' concept in K-pop during the early 2010s. Comprised of members Nana, Raina, and Lizzy, the trio departed from After School's sophisticated, performance-heavy image to explore a surrealist, camp-heavy aesthetic.
Their sound is characterized by a fusion of modern electronic dance-pop with traditional Korean 'trot' influences, particularly evident in their rhythmic structures and vocal inflections.
