Orange is an American-British punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2002. They gained significant industry attention early on when Tim Armstrong of Rancid signed them to Hellcat Records while the members were still in their mid-teens.
This early endorsement placed them within the 'Epitaph family' aesthetic, characterized by a blend of melodic pop-punk accessibility and traditional street-punk grit. Their sound is heavily influenced by the 1977 UK punk wave and the 90s California skate punk explosion, utilizing fast tempos, power-chord driven arrangements, and anthemic choruses. Over their career, they have evolved from the youthful exuberance of 'Welcome to the World of Orange' to the more mature, darker tones found on 'Phoenix'. C.' and 'Generator Rex', which helped bridge the gap between underground punk and mainstream youth culture.
