Olive is a British electronic group formed in Sheffield in 1995, consisting of producer Tim Kellett (formerly of Simply Red), Robin Taylor-Firth (Nightmares on Wax), and vocalist Ruth Ann Boyle. Their sound identity is defined by a sophisticated blend of trip-hop, downtempo, and synth-pop, characterized by Boyle's breathy, ethereal soprano and Kellett's lush, cinematic production.
They achieved significant commercial success with the 1996 single 'You're Not Alone,' which topped the UK charts and became a definitive anthem of the late-90s electronic crossover movement. Following Taylor-Firth's departure, the group moved toward a more dance-oriented, house-influenced sound on their second album, Trickle (2000).
